Divorce or separation
If you’re going through a divorce or separation, dealing with your shared finances can be complex and stressful. We’re here to listen if you need any help.
We will listen
By understanding your situation and how it may affect your ability to manage your mortgage, we can offer support that’s tailored to you. This helps us make thoughtful, personalised decisions about your account.
Calling us
When you call us be reassured, we take the privacy of customer data very seriously. Any information you provide to us is treated as confidential and will only be shared with colleagues who are managing your account and only disclosed to any third parties instructed by ourselves. If requested, it will not be shared with other account holders on the mortgage.
Changes to your account
Depending on your situation, there are some changes you may wish to make to your mortgage.
- If you’re both named on the mortgage and you no longer plan to live together, please let us know your new correspondence addresses. (We will keep this information private if requested.)
- We’ll then send statements and routine letters about your account to both correspondence addresses.
- Don’t worry though – any letters containing information that’s only meant for one person, will only be sent to the correspondence of that person.
- If you need to update the name of anyone listed on the mortgage, we can make this change if you provide us with certain official documents.
If you have a mortgage with us, you may want to consider changing the legal ownership of your property and potentially removing or adding someone from the mortgage.
This process can be complex, and you’ll need to contact us to discuss if a change is possible. You may also want to seek legal advice.
For further details about these and other changes you may wish to make to your account, please visit the making changes page of our website.
