Carer support

A carer can be anyone, including children and adults, who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, mental health condition or an addiction, and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is often unpaid. If you find yourself in this situation please see the information and links below, which might be helpful for you.

If the situation is having an impact on your mortgage, please contact us , we’re here to help and we’ll talk you through your options.

If you’re worried about making your monthly payments or are already struggling, please call us and we’ll try to help. Simply talking to us won’t affect your credit file – and the sooner you get in touch the better, as there are often more ways we can help.

The NHS has lots of helpful information for people who have care and support needs, for their carers, and also people who are planning their future care needs.

Carers UK is here to listen, to give you expert information and guidance, to champion your rights and support you in finding new ways to manage at home, at work, or wherever you are.

It can provide advice on financial support, practical support, information on carers rights and government entitlements (including help with paperwork). It also has carers’ groups so that carers don’t feel like they’re in it alone.

MoneyHelper provides free, clear and unbiased advice on money related issues. You can contact them on 0800 138 7777.

You can also visit its dedicated website section which contains several guides to help you understand what benefits you can claim as a carer and other financial support that is available.
